Journey to the Auschwitz Memorial

  • Categories: Trips and Excursions

Primo Levi was asked: “Do you think the humanity of humankind can be destroyed?”  “Unfortunately yes, yes. And I want to say, that is the characteristic of Auschwitz,... that it annihilates the personality of humans on the inside as well as on the outside.”

The concentration camp Auschwitz was built in the mid 1940s in the suburbs of the Polish town Oświęcim, about 60 km to the west of Krakow. The town was given the German name “Auschwitz” and, throughout the world, became a symbol for the Holocaust, genocide and terror.

Hardly anyone can bear being in this terrible place all by themselves. We are therefore offering a group journey to the Polish memorial of the former German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The trip is open to all students; there will be the possibility to connect with people in German as well as in English.

PLEASE NOTE: The journey is an event organized by the ESG Munich. Further information will be announced by the organizer.
