Studying with a disability
Studying with a disability is unfortunately anything but straight forward. There are many structural shortcomings that have to be compensated for and many barriers that have to be overcome on the way to sucessfully completing your studies. Not to mention the difficulties of living with a disability or chronic illness that each individual has to cope with. Not many people realise that almost 20% of all students have a disability or suffer from a chronic illness. This includes not only those individuals who are physically handicapped, visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing or have a speech impairment, but also students with illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, cancer, HIV, rheumatism, diabetes, epilepsie, or allergies or psychoses.
The Munich Student Union aims to give students with a disability or chronic illness equal rights and as much independence as possible. We thus offer you special support and services in all area of student life. We naturally also welcome your questions and suggestions at any time.
