Since the winter semester 2016/2017, the organisation Studentenhilfe München e.V. has been offering scholarships for successfully completing your studies with a child. The scholarship is specially designed for full-time student parents.
Studying with a child is not easy. For this reason, the organisation Studentenhilfe e.V. started a scholarship programme specifically for student parents in order to help them successfully complete their studies. In addition to monthly financial support for up to two semesters, scholarship students also receive competent advice from the Munich Students Union’s advisory service for pregnant students and students with a child on all aspects of everyday student life. This is to make sure that you can successfully complete your studies.
Since 01.01.2018, the maternity protection act “Mutterschutzgesetz” (MuSchG) also applies to students during their studies!
Should your institution bindingly stipulate a location, time and procedure or should an internship be required as part of your higher education, the “Mutterschutzgesetz” now also applies to students. The “Mutterschutzgesetz” has special regulations that apply to students, for instance, female students can waive their right to a period of protection after giving birth!
The “Mutterschutzgesetz” still applies to all pregnant women or mothers who are permanently employed - thus, it also applies to students who are permanently employed or have a part-time job.
Let your university know when you are pregnant, so that potential risks for you and your child can be avoided and, as the case may be, an individual solution can be found for you.
More information regarding the “Mutterschutzgesetz” can be found HERE.
