Culture & partying all in one night – free for students! The Lenbachhaus will be opening its doors exclusively for students and cultureclubbing, a series of events organized by the Munich Student Union.
All art-loving student night owls will be able to visit the exhibition “Looking at the Sun at Midnight: Contemporary Art from the Lenbachhaus and the KiCo Foundation” (German title: “Die Sonne um Mitternacht schauen: Gegenwartskunst aus dem Lenbachhaus und der KiCo Stiftung) from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. free of charge. The title is borrowed from a work cycle by Katharina Sieverding. The title remains enigmatic, but nevertheless makes it perfectly clear that things and issues that are shrouded in darkness from one perspective are clear as day when seen from another. When the sun is shining in one hemisphere, it cannot be seen in the other; and yet it exists all the time and is essential for all life on Earth. Part of that life is questions and conflicts concerning the conditions for individual people and entire societies living together as well as persisting global relationships. These conditions rest on imbalances in exercising power, linguistic authority and role perception, topics which are dealt with in the artworks exhibited.
After this cultural input there will be a live stream from the Harry Klein Club.
Date: Thursday, 10th December 2020 from 9:00 p.m.
Location: Städtische Galerie am Lenbachhaus as well as Live Stream from the Harry Klein Club
Free admission for 200 students!
