Fringe theatre and cabaret

The Culture Bureau of the Munich Student Union promotes and supports student fringe theatre and cabaret by awarding two prizes:

  • Die Goldene Weißwurscht (The Golden White Sausage)
    is awarded once a year in the summer semester, at a cabaret evening during the Music- and Theatre festival StuStaCulum. The Weißwurst, which is endowed with €3,000, has been awarded annually since 1996. Nowadays it is veiwed as a springboard for young artists who wish to enter the professional cabaret scene. The 1997 winner Jess Jochimsen has made many an appearance at the Munich Lach- und Schießgesellschaft (a comedy/cabaret club) and on the classic ARD cabaret show 'Scheibenwischer'. [More...]
  • Der ComOly
    is pausing at the moment due to renovations of the building wehre it is normally hold. It may restart at the winter semester 2011/2012 (13th october 2010).
    It is awarded once every year in the winter semester, as the finale to a series of comedy evenings in the student cafe CO2 in Olympic Park. The comedy evenings, which serve as heats for the final, take place regulary on Thursday evenings. Entries from cabaretists, comedians, musicians and clowns are all welcome, as are entrants performing their own texts. There is one condition: The audience must be moved to laughter. ComOly is the most popular platform for newcomers to the Munich fringe theatre scene. [More...]
